Alcohol

Ready to Quit, But Can't?

Are you frustrated because you know the consequences of your drinking, but still can't stop?

Any behavior that lasts, does so for a good reason.  Especially one that causes pain, costs money, impacts relationships, and impairs job performance.

The question is, “How can the purpose be fulfilled without the side effects?”

NLP has specific techniques to resolve that question for better health and for a happy, productive, harmonious life!

Drinkers Who Want to Quit Are Conflicted

The part of them wants to drink, needs to drink, while the non-drinking part knows the consequences.  When the non-drinking part tries to quit, then the drinking part makes life miserable.  Until this conflict is resolved, the battle goes on.

It is important to recognize that alcohol consumption serves a valuable, even essential, purpose.  If it didn't, you wouldn't keep spending money on it and making adjustments to get by.  You're just too busy to bother with it if it didn't meet a need.

There is no physical addiction to alcohol; just a psychological addiction.  Just the same as a chocolate addiction.  When we find out the underlying need, we can find another way to satisfy the need.

A person must know that no one is going to take the behavior away from them.  The intention is to help them find a better way to get the benefit; one that has less cost to them.  They always have the option of resuming the behavior if that is the best way of getting the benefit.  But if they can get the benefit "wholesale", they never want to pay the full price, and so they do not go back to the old behavior.   It is even possible to become a social drinker, instead of a compulsive one.

Alcoholic cessation work must address three things: the conflict must be resolved; the need must be satisfied some other way; and the withdrawal from the habitual behavior must be addressed.  When they are, the result is another non-drinker!

Note: Some people turn to alcohol as a result of a condition called pyroluria or kyrptopyroluria.  This is a genetic abnormality wherein excess copper is stored and zinc and vitamin B-6 are deficient.  Correcting the imbalance can make a significant difference in a week or so.

Also, Bill Wilson, the founder of A.A. found that B vitamins helped reduce his cravings and depression.  He tried to get vitamin therapy included in the official program, but was not able to.  You can read about it here.

In some cases, people will drink alcohol because they are hypoglycemic.  Alcohol is even easier to convert into glucose than sugar.  To correct this condition, all that is needed is chromium and vandium supplementation.  For the first week or two, 200 mcg of chromium picolinate 3 times a day has been recommended.  After that, 200 mcg once a day is usually sufficient.

Pyroluria

Pyroluria, is a genetic condition, which causes anexity, stress, and anger.  Many alcoholics are self-mediticating to reduce the stress and anxiety.  Today, there were more than 10000 links on Google.  The situation is that the body is execreting zinc and B-6 and holding on to copper, which is a serious brain irrantatant, if there is too much.

You cn read more about it at:  http://www.diagnose-me.com/cond/C372380.html.

Up to 80% of alcholics have pyroluria.
