Viral Infections, Emotions, &the Immune System |
|
| We must remember that bacteria and viruses do not cause
disease. If they did we would all be sick all the time, because we
all have bacteria and viruses in our bodies all the time. The are
agents of disease, but not the cause. The cause lies within us.
Our immune system wasn't up to the task of defending us.
Most infections start when our immune response is low. It may be low because it doesn’t have the vitamins and minerals that fuel our defenses; or our immune system may be depressed because we are stressed. Everyone knows that when we feel bad, we are more prone to sickness. When we feel good, we seem to shrug off illnesses more easily. We are not surprised when we catch cold after returning from a vacation, but that isn’t so important in the grand scheme of things. It is more troublesome when a cold sore returns, or hepatitis flares up in response to stress. And if we have a problem with Epstein-Barr virus (mononucleosus), or HIV, the problem can be serious. Numerous studies have shown that various stresses subdue our immune response. We all know that more people get sick at exam time in college, and accountants get sick near April 15th. If someone is unexpectedly let go from a job, the impact can be hard. But what can we do? Many diseases go into remission when a person is emotionally clear. And relapses occur when stress is dominant. Examples include cold sores, hepatitis, lupus symptoms, and M.S. symptoms. And it is even true for HIV. The first thing to notice is that it doesn’t happen to everyone in such a situation. It is dependent on how each individual responds to the situation. The response is based on childhood learnings, life experiences, and memories. From this, we can conclude that we can learn still more, and alter our responses. Time Line Therapy® is the best tool for getting to the roots of the stress, and clearing it up. By altering our learning, we can alter our reactions in stressful situations so that our immune system doesn’t take a hit. No matter which of the emotions dominate, or which are present, they interfere with your life. The rational mind has little impact on how we feel, and so has little impact on how we respond to the situations we find ourselves in. At Your Mind Is Key, we use tools to reach the emotional mind, and relieve the stress.
